Can the Dodgers Avoid the Injury Bug in 2012?
Injuries are a big part of Baseball and all sports. Teams try and avoid them, but no matter how hard anyone tries, no one is exempted from the injury bug. It’s unavoidable. Injuries are going to happen in some form, which is why all major league teams carry a medical staff and have team physicians. Players are regularly examined by team doctors throughout the season. Injuries are just a natural part of Baseball life. The best you can be is prepared for when they happen. The Dodgers were unequipped to handle the heavy amount of injuries that befell them in [...]
On Friday July 26, 1991 the Dodgers played the Montreal Expos, one day after Dennis Martinez pitched a perfect game against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. What made this game interesting was the Dodgers were no-hit through 9 innings by Montreal pitcher Mark Gardner, however the game was scoreless, thanks to the Dodger pitching staff only allowing two hits. Starter Orel Hershiser pitched 6 two hit innings, Kevin Gross followed and pitched 3 innings, and Jay Howell pitched the top of the tenth. With the game scoreless in the bottom of the tenth inning, Jeff Fassero entered the game and allowed consecutive [...]
Our Hiro is Gone-Kuroda Signs with the Yankees
We can close the book on Hiroki Kuroda now. He finally signed today. According to the tweet from Jack Curry of the YES network, reported on MLB trade rumors, Kuroda has signed with the Yankees, pending a physical. Jack Curry Tweet Kuroda had yet to sign until today, but had been talking to several teams, the Yankees being one of those. The terms of the contract are one year for between 10-11 million dollars. Kuroda made 12 million last year with the Dodgers. This is a sad day indeed, Kuroda has been one of my favorite Dodgers for a while [...]
The 2012 Dodger Rotation
Stacie and I have decided to work on a new series of posts. We will be reviewing all of the different areas of the 25 man roster for 2012. We already covered the Dodger Bench. Today we will be covering the starting rotation. The Dodgers made two additions to the rotation, and lost a very important piece. Let’s bunker down and take a look at the Dodgers starting rotation for 2012 and projections for each starter. The pitching staff was generally solid for the Dodgers in 2011, and the rotation was a team strength for most of the season led [...]
Conversations with the Enemy: San Diego Padres
Hello all! I recently had a discussion with Justin Hunter of ChickenFriars our San Diego Brethren on FanSided. We will be doing these series of posts with Justin and some of the other Divisional bloggers throughout the offseason. Take a look below, and check out Justin’s piece over at ChickenFriars. Thanks Justin!
Dodgers Sign Aaron Harang and Complete Rotation
The Dodgers are believed to have inked a 2-year $12 million dollar deal with free agent Aaron Harang, and this essentially completes the 2012 five man rotation for the Dodgers.
Dodgers Hot Stove Report
As the Winter meetings play out this week, the Dodgers hot stove continues to heat up. Some more news coming in today from around the blogosphere: First off Dodgers minor league outfielder Jamie Hoffman has been put on waivers and claimed by Colorado. The 27-year old outfielder only played in a few games for the Dodgers. Hoffman last year batted .297 with 22 home runs in Albuquerque. This is likely to make roster room for Starting pitcher Aaron Harang, who according to sources is very close to signing a deal with the Dodgers. Hey, I won’t shed a tear for Hoffman. [...]
The Dodgers need a Hiro
Guys, I’m getting worried. I’m very worried at this point. According to an article on the Dodgers web site, and across the blogosphere, it appears the Dodgers likely will not have enough money to resign Hiroki Kuroda. We’re in big trouble here guys. According to the reports, GM Ned Colletti was interviewed, and stated the Dodgers might be thinking of asking Hiroki to take a 50% pay cut. Yikes! 50% pay cut? Really, Ned? Just sign him. Make him an offer….just do it….now!
Dodgers Look to Finish Holiday Shopping
Now that we have gotten over our annual Thanksgiving turkey coma, let us recap the Dodgers Hot Stove, and take a look at what is next on the Dodger’s Christmas list.
The Dodgers Still Searching for Pitching
And the search continues. That’s pretty much become the motto these days when we talk about the Dodgers search for pitching. First, they didn’t make much of an effort to re-sign Randy Wolf. Then they haven’t shown to be all that interested in Chien Ming-Wang. And now, the trade for Aaron Harang is no longer a possibility. I’m not really sure what the Dodgers expect at this point. They’ve lost in the playoffs the past two seasons because of pitching. They thought they fixed the problem heading into this season, but that obviously didn’t work when it came down to [...]
