Baseball runs deep in the Wallach family, and because of this, Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach and his family will be honored with an award at the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation Banquet at the Hyatt regency century Plaza Hotel. The event on Saturday will present the Wallachs with the Ray Boone Family award. The current third base coach for the Dodgers was an all-star third baseman, went into player development, then became minor league coach, manager, before he became third base coach for the Dodgers under manager Don Mattingly.

Dodgers Bring Back Mike MacDougal (Dougie)
As expected for many weeks, The Dodgers have retained relief pitcher Mike MacDougal, also known as Dougie to us. This move has been expected for weeks now and it was made official today. According to reports, the deal is a major league contract worth 1 million total. Dougie will make 650,000 in 2012, and there is also an opti0n for 2013 worth about 2.35 million dollars. The 34 year old right hander also has a 350,000 buyout.
Joe Torre wants to Buy the Dodgers
Hey Guys, We have some breaking news coming in. Joe Torre wants to buy the Dodgers. Torre who managed the Yankees from 96-2007 and managed the Dodgers from 2008-2010, is reported to be throwing his hat into the ring in order to buy the Dodgers. According to this L.A. Times L.A. Times article on Joe Torre Bid article , Torre is stepping down from his position at MLB headquarters as executive vice president in order to pursue the Dodgers.

The Year Of the Bison 2011 was a roller-coaster of a season that started out abysmal, but finished somewhat better. We witnessed both arguably the best player in baseball, Matt Kemp, and surely the worst player in baseball, Eugenio Velez. We suffered major rustiness and were plagued with many trips to the DL. By the start of the second half of the season we had already lost Jon Garland and Vicente Padilla to season ending injury, and others were soon to follow suit. Guys, I would be remiss in my duties if I did not mention that today is Sandy Koufax’s birthday. He was born on December 30, 1935. The hall of famer turns 76 today. Dodgers Sign John Grabow, Somebody Tell Me Why?
Some news to break us from the Bum list… the Dodgers have signed lefty reliever John Grabow to a minor league deal. The only good thing about it is it’s on a minor league deal, however someone please tell me why they’re signing this bum? Other than the fact that he’s a lefty? They have already been talking about resigning Dougie, and have already signed lefty Wil Ledezma, plus we still have Elbert, and Grabow is terrible.
Hey guys, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Here is a couple of news and notes to catch everyone up on a couple of things this weekend. First, Matt Kemp has won the 2011 Gibby award for best player of the year. The Gibbys stand for Greatness in Baseball Yearly. Gibbys are handed out for many different categories. The Gibbys are tabulated by four main areas representing 25% of the total votes, as the player with the most votes wins the award. The four main areas are: online votes from fans, the media, managers, coaches, and MLB alumni.
Yesterday I wrote a piece on the Ryan Braun PED scandal story that has taken over the blogosphere. Wasn’t it just a few days ago that we found out that Albert Pujols signed with the Angels? Oh yes, it is amazing how stories take over the internet for days and then disappear for the next headline. This happens quite frequently during the offseason.
