Zack and Emily Greinke Welcome Baby Boy

Lasorda’s Lair wants to congratulate Zack and Emily Greinke on the birth of their first child! Bode Nicholas Greinke was born on July 23, 2015. He weighed 6 pounds and 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.

"Bode Nicholas Greinke born on 7/23/15, 19 in. long, 6 lbs 5 oz! Such a sweet baby boy we get to be parents to!"

Bode, which is an adorable name, wasn’t born during the offseason like Cali Ann Kershaw was just six months ago, but then again sometimes these things cannot be planned. I’m sure little Bode is already a M.V.P. (and future pitcher?) in Zack and Emily’s eyes.

It’s no coincidence that in the same year and season Zack Greinke becomes a father, he is also well on his way to earning himself a second Cy Young Award with his dominating pitching. His teammate Clayton Kershaw accepted his N.L. M.V.P. Award and N.L. Cy Young Award just a day after becoming a father in January.

Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke have drawn comparisons to the Hall of Fame Dodgers pitching duo Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale, and now both Dodger aces have become fathers in the same year. I cannot wait to see Cali and Bode play date pictures.

Dodger babies are the best, aren’t they?

Zack Greinke was placed on paternity leave on Friday in order to spend some precious time with his newborn and his wife. He was scheduled to pitch on Friday in New York, but he could possibly return by the end of the weekend to pitch at Citi Field. Ian Thomas was recalled from Oklahoma City, and he will get the start in the Big Apple in Greinke’s place.

Zack Greinke is also currently in the midst of a 43 2/3 scoreless inning streak in his last six starts dating back to June 18th.

Emily and Zack are known to be excellent cat parents, but I’m sure they’ll transition into human parents with no problem.
