Brandon League Sidelined With Shoulder Discomfort

Right hander Brandon League has been shut down due to shoulder discomfort. Apparently the long haired reliever felt the discomfort after playing catch on Sunday afternoon. The Dodgers are announcing that he will be shut down from pitching for the next several days.

    • This is another wrench in the Dodger’s already questionable bullpen. The Dodgers already have suffered injuries to fellow relievers J.P. Howell (sore groin), and Joel Peralta (shoulder), and closer Kenley Jansen remains sidelined because of his foot surgery. Howell and Peralta seem to have recovered from their minor ailments.

    League appeared in 63 games for the Dodgers last year, posting a 2.57 ERA/3/.40 FIP with a 5.4 strikeout per nine rate in 63 frames pitched. So far this spring, League has only appeared in two games, and has not looked at all. The 31-year old has allowed five earned runs on three hits and struck out one in 1.1 innings pitched.

    The Dodgers have stated that they think the injury is minor, and League should be back in action after a few days of rest. League’s birthday is on Monday, and he will turn 32 years old.
