Dodgers Sign Brandon Beachy To One-Year Major League Deal

The Dodgers have signed former Atlanta right hander Brandon Beachy to a one-year major league deal. Ken Rosenthal reported the signing on Saturday morning. The 28-year old is still recovering from his second career Tommy John surgery, and won’t be eligible to be activated once the season begins. Beachy had the second operation in early 2014.

If you remember Beachy recorded his first major league win with six shutout frames against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in April of 2011. Ironically that game certainly was no day at the Beachy I tell you what.

Beachy has played his entire four year career in Atlanta, debuting in 2010. He pitched in just five games for the Braves in 2013, and did not pitch at all in 2014. The right hander has had multiple injury problems throughout his career. Beachy has a career record of 14-11 with a 3.23 ERA in 46 career starts. He’s punched out 9.2 batters per nine innings, and 2.9 walks per nine, with a 5-1 strikeout to walk ratio. According to Rosenthal the deal includes a club option year for 2016.
