Dodgers Welcome Jimmy Rollins to L.A.

The Dodgers held a press conference today at Dodger Stadium to welcome their new shortstop Jimmy Rollins to Los Angeles. Even though I couldn’t be there due to a bout with bronchitis, Jimmy played along and answered my silly question on Twitter during a Q&A session from Dodger Stadium Wednesday evening.

I’m happy to see that Number 11 has a sense of humor and also admits that Juan Uribe is indeed extremely stylish.

The veteran infielder is eager to make an impact with his new team, and he cited the historic legacy of the Dodgers as one of the reasons he agreed to be traded away from Philadelphia which was the only team he ever played for over his 15-year career.

"“There was only one place I wanted to go if I left Philadelphia and that was Los Angeles — a place that has history, a place that wants to win, and I wanted to be a part of something special and somehow have an impact on that,” Rollins said. “It wasn’t happening in Philly at the moment, so I’m not surprised. I’m just glad it happened.”"

Rollins looks to be a leader in the clubhouse and on the field. Even though he may only be with the Dodgers through 2015 if prospect Corey Seager is ready to step up to the Majors, Rollins has the ultimate goal within his sight.

Rollins garnered a World Series ring with the Phillies back in 2008, and he hopes to accomplish that feat once again with his new team.

A California native out of Encinal High School in Alameda, Rollins will no doubt fit right in with his new team and city. I’m excited to see Jimmy Rollins, Howie Kendrick, Juan Uribe and Adrian Gonzalez work together this Spring at Camelback Ranch.
