Miguel Rojas Also Headed To Miami in Gordon/Heaney Deal

We’re getting more details in about the Dodger’s flurry of trades made tonight on the second to last evening of the MLB winter meetings at San Diego.

According to Bill Plunket of the OC County Register, Miguel Rojas will be heading to the Marlins in the Dee Gordon, Dan Haren/Andrew Heaney trade just announced earlier. The 25-year old slick fielding infielder batted .181 in 162 plate appearances for the Dodgers in 2014, while playing in 85 games. He was able to play all over the infield during the last season.

Rojas primarily played at shortstop where he excelled defensively. In 66 games there he commited just four errors and saved ten runs defensively. Rojas also played 19 games at third base, and three games at second base during 2014 for the Dodgers. Rojas going to the Fish means the trade was a seven-player deal instead of a six-player trade, which was originally reported.

Joe Frisaro is also reporting that if pitcher Dan Haren retires, then the Marlins will receive some financial compensation. According to his twitter account, Haren has not decided what he wants to do yet. Although the veteran right hander still strongly desires to remain in Southern California.
