The Dodgers have signed another young (well relatively young) minor leaguer. The club announced on Saturday that they have signed minor league infielder Buck Britton to a minor league deal. The 28-year old is the older brother of Zach Britton, the Baltimore Oriole’s closer.

While his younger brother is throwing heat in the Oriole’s bullpen, Buck is trying to catch on with a major league club. Buck is a California native, originally hailing from Panorama City. He was actually drafted by the Orioles in the 35th round of the 2008 Amateur draft.

The left handed hitter has never appeared in the majors, but has spent over seven seasons in the minor leagues. All of those seven seasons spent with the Baltimore organization. Buck has a career slash line of .280/.338/.410 with 49 home runs in 637 minor league games.

Last season Buck split time between the double-AA Bowie Baysox of the Eastern league, and the triple-AA Norfolk Tides of the International League. Buck batted .254 with 8 home runs and 35 runs batted, in and posted a .305 OBP in 59 games for Norfolk last season while receiving playing time at all four infield positions.
