The Dodgers are returning to play Baseball in San Antonio next season for the first time in 15 years. The Dodgers announced that they will play a two game exhibition series against the Texas Rangers at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio Texas from March 20-21 next season.

If you remember the Dodgers hosted their double-A affiliate in San Antonio for 23 years from 1977-2000. That affiliate was called the San Antonio Dodgers, and later called the Missions.

This will be the third year that an MLB exhibition series will be played at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio. Over 75,000 fans attended the series in 2013 when the Rangers hosted the Padres for the first series. Last season’s series saw Texas host their cross-state rival Houston Astros.

The Alamo Dome is a 70,000 seated domed stadium that is primarily used as a football, basketball and convention center in San Antonio. The Alamodome has hosted a wide variety of sporting events over the years. Some of those events include the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s basketball championships, The Valero Alamo Bowl, New Orleans Saints home games, and Dallas Cowboy’s training camp.

Nolan Ryan is excited about the series.

"We’re excited about this match up,” said Nolan Ryan.  “The Dodgers are one of the most successful franchises in baseball with some good, young players.  For fans in San Antonio and all over the state it’s a great opportunity to see play them since there is not a National League team in Texas anymore.”"

Dodger’s CEO and team President Stan Kasten is excited as well.

"The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking forward to visiting San Antonio for Big League Weekend this spring with the Texas Rangers,” said Dodgers’ President & CEO Stan Kasten.  “Playing in the Alamodome should be quite an experience for our team and our fans.”"

The first game on March 20 will be played on Friday at 7:00 PM. The second game will be played on Saturday March 21 at 1:00 PM. Tickets go on sale on Friday, November 14.
