Hanley Ramirez is one of the most talented hitters I have seen play. When he’s healthy, he can be a M.V.P. caliber offensive addition to the lineup. The former batting champ was a force to be reckoned with during the later part of 2012 after coming over to the Dodgers in a trade with Miami which sent Nathan Eovaldi packing. Even though he started off the 2013 season on the disability list, Hanley went on to play four solid months before getting injured in the postseason.

In 2014, Hanley played in the most games since his 2012 season. Hanley played in 128 games with 13 homeruns and 71 RBIs for the Dodgers in a contract year battling a multitude of injuries throughout the season. He walked 56 times which was tied with Adrian Gonzalez for the second most free passes over the course of the season. Hanley is still a dangerous hitter, and he absolutely crushed that ball in Colorado.

Hanley brought the thunder clap with a humongous solo homerun in the top of the sixth inning off Jorge De La Rosa. Hanley’s 10th homerun of the season cleared the seats in left field. The Dodgers went on to win 6-1 in a rain-shortened game which ended after a four-run sixth by the Dodgers.

Clayton Kershaw picked up his fifth win behind a mostly minor league lineup. Injuries were a plentiful during June, and Carl Crawford, Juan Uribe and A.J. Ellis were all on the disabled list. Even Yasiel Puig and Dee Gordon were unable to play do to minor hip ailments.

Matt Kemp and Scott Van Slyke wanted to retreat to the dugout due to frequent lightning in Denver, but the real lightning rod of the night was Hanley’s bat.

Hanley Ramirez is currently a free agent.

"“Hopefully it’s something that gets him going,” Mattingly said of Ramirez’s home run. “He’s been good in the two-hole.”"
