Umpire Dale Scott Claps After Yasiel Puig Strikeout

I’m going to blow this wide open, and I don’t care what anyone says. A word of warning for anyone watching this, but this is shocking. I am appalled that a professional MLB umpire was doing this and nobody saw this. I want to thank OCDodgerFans for catching this and blowing the lid on this. There is no way that home plate umpire Dale Scott should get away with this.

During the third inning of the Dodger’s 3-1 loss to the Cardinals in game 3 of their NLDS at Busch Stadium, home plate umpire Dale Scott is clearly seen clapping after Yasiel Puig strikes out. Watch carefully, but you can see it as Puig walks away from the plate.

Now as you can see Puig strikes out swinging. As he is walking away Dale Scott claps. He claps not once, not twice, but three times. Count the claps guys. One….two….three! Three claps!!! Are umpires allowed to clap after strikeouts?

This is totally unacceptable. Never mind that Scott’s strike zone was obviously inconsistently favoring the Cardinals all night long. Never mind the shady grounds keeping delay he allowed in the top of the ninth inning that interrupted the Dodger’s rally off of Cardinal’s closer Trevor Rosenthal. Never mind the torrential downpour that occurred in the bottom of the seventh inning while Dodger reliever Scott Elbert was on the mound. The game was not halted for that of course. This is just……holy crap this is not cool.

I don’t understand how in the world this is allowed. Dale Scott is supposed to be a professional MLB umpire! MLB umpires are supposed to be impartial. That’s their job. It’s their job to not influence games or cheerlead. So why in the world was he clapping after a strikeout?

I can’t think of any reason why he would be clapping after Puig struck out, other than blatant favoritism. This is the playoffs! This should not be allowed in any game, let alone the postseason. The Dodgers should have filed a formal protest with the commissioner’s office and played the rest of the game under that protest. I don’t think anyone caught on to this. I was watching the game and didn’t catch it either. Of course none of the Fox Sports 1 announcers would say anything would they?

I urge everyone to retweet this video and article all over the internet. Let’s not let this go by the wayside. This is outrageous! Shameless! The Dodgers would go onto lose the game to the Cardinals by a score of 3-1. The Dodgers may have lost the game, but at least they have integrity, which is something that can’t be said about umpire Dale Scott.
