Yasiel Puig and His Sore Back Go Clubbing

Yasiel Puig didn’t waste any time after returning from Australia to hit up the clubs in L.A., and TMZ.com had the photos to prove it.

More drama surrounding Yasiel Puig’s supposed sore back and Don Mattingly‘s sarcastic comments have fueled another media fuss. Puig has been constantly scrutinized on and off the field since debuting with the Dodgers last season. Two driving arrests haven’t helped the talented Cuban outfielder stay out of the tabloids either.

According to TMZ Puig went out clubbing soon after arriving back to the states.

"“Puig — along with fellow Dodgers star Juan Uribe — hit up Greystone Manor in Hollywood last night … and just to make sure everyone knew he was there, Puig rolled up in his $300,000 Rolls Royce Ghost.”"

It looked as if Puig was behind the wheel in his Rolls Royce from the photos TMZ managed to obtain. Puig, who was arrested in Florida for reckless driving this past December, had reportedly taken a break from driving and had a friend chauffeur him around for a bit. It looks as if Puig is back behind the wheel, and we can only hope that he is sticking to the speed limit.

Puig was lucky to have the charges dropped in his reckless driving case, but the drama did not end there. The young dynamo showed up to Spring Training overweight and could only muster 5 hits in 44 plate appearances this Spring. Shoulder inflammation hampered his Spring, but I’m not sure if the weight gain was the cause of the injury. Puig was battling shoulder and back problems off and on last season as well.

Obviously Puig’s back feels good enough to party it up in Hollywood, and perhaps that is a good sign that Puig is engaging in revelry and not undergoing an MRI. Although we have seen Matt Kemp hobble out of the clubs on crutches before, so perhaps these guys just have a need to par-tay!

The Dodgers do have a reason to celebrate after they swept the downtrodden Snakes in Sydney and return to Southern California with a two game lead in the West.
