After another tie in Surprise. Here’s some amazing news out of Spring Training regarding a Dodger Outfielder.

So Matt Kemp is almost all the way back. In my opinion the face of the franchise seems like he’s almost over his ankle woes that troubled him last season. After countless times of mashing Spring Training pitching in batting practice, hitting Brandon League over and over again, we’ve heard nothing but positive things about his recovery. From Buster Olney writing an excellent post on the return of Matt Kemp’s devastating swing”, we’re a step closer to seeing that beautiful swing in a live game for the first time since September of last season. Everyone knows about how difficult a time Kemp had last season recovering from the awful shoulder surgery he had that normally could have destroyed a player’s whole season like it did with Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez. But all reports have indicated that he’s over that.
We all thought he wasn’t going to be ready for Australia. And that’s still probably not going to happen, but still just the fact we’re getting news he’s nearly back into game action is wonderful. Remember all that talk about his ankle injury being “career threatening“? Yeah, this is some serious stuff the Dodgers were dealing with. According to this article written last week we got a more conservative estimate on his overall health:
The tricky part of the comeback is that if Kemp returns too soon, the bone can be damaged permanently, and there is no way to accurately predict when the bone is fully healed.
This is especially tricky, but it definitely seems that at some point they’re going to have to build strength in that ankle in order for him to get into game condition. Personally, I don’t think that Matt Kemp is going to be quite ready for Australia, I think the team is going to use the Spring Training games going on in the minor league circuit to get him playing time, but the amazing thing here is the MVP caliber player the Dodgers so desperately needed in October last season is back and primed for a massive season.
