Ned Colletti announced the 2014 Dodgers coaching staff on Monday morning. Tim Wallach, who had recently just interviewed with Detroit and Seattle for their open managerial jobs, will become the Dodgers bench coach next season. Wallach, who will eventually become a Major League skipper, failed to land either job for the Mariners or Tigers. Trey Hillman, Don Mattingly‘s friend and bench coach, was let go after the Dodgers cited they wanted to go in a different direction. Hillman was offered another job within the organization.

Wallach’s move to bench coach also opened the door for the promotion of Lorenzo Bundy who will take over third base coaching duties for 2014. Lorenzo Bundy, who has been the AAA-Albuquerque Isotopes manager since 2011, was named the PCL Manager of the Year in 2012. Bundy has 12 years of experience managing in the minor leagues. Bundy’s promotion was well-deserved. The Isotopes will now need to name a new manager to replace him for next season.

The remaining coaching staff members remain the same. Rick Honeycutt will of course be returning as pitching coach for his ninth season with the Dodgers now making him the longest-tenured Dodger coach on the staff. Davey Lopes will once again be the first base coach.

Don Mattingly, despite still in the midst of contract extension talks, will be returning for his fourth season as the Dodgers manager.
