While we are still trying to recover from that horrid 9-0 NLCS Game 6 routing by the Cardinals, I figure we can look back at 2013 and count down the top ten Dodger homeruns of the year. Am I the only one who still thinks about that NLCS Game 6 everyday still? Anyhow, the Dodgers 2013 season was filled with many memorable moments, and many of those were when Dodgers were busy crushing homeruns over the fence of Dodger Stadium and other parks across MLB. Help me celebrate the Dodger dinger by counting down the top ten homeruns of the year.
10. Hanley Ramirez‘s “I See You” Bobblehead Night Tuesday, April 30, 2013
The Dodgers were desperate for a breakthrough by the time April came to a close, and Hanley Ramirez would eventually become just the Dodger to help turn the team around once he came back from the injury he suffered while playing in the World Baseball Classic just before the season commenced.
During his first start of the year, which happened to be on his very own bobblehead night, Hanley Ramirez showed Dodger fans what a star he truly is by homering and doubling in the 6-2 win over the Colorado Rockies. With help from starter Hyun-jin Ryu who struck out 12 batters in 6 innings of work, Hanley’s heroics that night were merely the start of many more to come throughout the 2013 season.
Hanley’s solo homerun to left field came with one out in the bottom of the third inning off Colorado starter Jorge De La Rosa.
Hanley Ramirez returned two weeks earlier than expected after succumbing to right thumb surgery after tearing his ligament during the WBC. I think we can all agree that the Dodgers should not let Hanley play in the 2014 WBC. Please, no.
“I felt like a little kid in a candy shop,” said Ramirez after the game.
We felt like giddy kids too as we watched Hanley’s beautiful homerun swing for the first time on the season.
Psy, the Korean pop star, was at Dodger Stadium to take in the game and dance a little Gangham Style before the Dodger win.
Unfortunately Hanley Ramirez’s injuries throughout the season only allowed him to play in 86 games in 2013 for the Dodgers, but his amazing talent helped fuel the Dodgers on their epic 42-8 run which led them to their first playoff berth since 2009.
