Homer Bailey-5-9 vs. Clayton Kershaw-9-6

News flash the Dodgers are no longer undefeated since the all-star break. The horror! I know it sucks, but they can’t win them all. And with that due to lose thing hanging over their head at least they got it out of the way now, rather than later. And maybe the Dbacks won’t be playing the Cubs tonight? Doesn’t it seem like they’ve been playing them for weeks now?

Kershaw goes for his tenth win tonight-.Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight in game two of this four game set with Cincinnati, the Dodgers (53-48) will face Mr. No-hitter and right hander Homer Bailey. Bailey has struggled since pitching his second no-no against the Giants back on July 2. Since then he’s allowed 11 runs on 27 hits in 17 frames. Bailey is 3-1 against the Dodgers lifetime. He made 121 pitches in his last start, so let’s see if fatigue possibly plays a factor. The Dodgers might only be hitting .243 (26 for 107), but Adrian Gonzalez is hitting .553 off of Bailey with five home runs. The 27 year old right hander is 5-9 this season with a 3.84 ERA and 133 whiffs. Check out what the rest of the Dodgers have done against Bailey.

Hopefully Bailey doesn’t pitch another no-hitter tonight-Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Dodgers will counter with Clayton Kershaw. The former Cy Young winning lefty is having another Cy Young type season. Last start at Washington, Kershaw allowed just two hits through seven innings to win his fourth decision in his last five starts. Kershaw is 1-1 with a 3.16 ERA in six starts against Cincinnati. Kershaw is 9-6 with a league leading 2.01 ERA. He’s going for his tenth win of the year. Kershaw also leads the league in WHIP (0.880), batting average against (.184), and lowest hits allowed per nine innings at 5.8. Kershaw has held the Reds to a .267 average against. Although Joey Votto has hit two home runs versus Kershaw.
