The day started like it usually does for the Dodgers. It began with the daily evaluation of the walking wounded, and then building another pathetic lineup filled with their fringy bench guys. This is Dodger Baseball guys Yippee!

The Dodgers already placed Matt Kemp on the DL, and then we learned that A.J. Ellis was placed on the DL with his oblique injury. His DL stint is retroactive to May 30. So we have 12 more days without AJ and it’s going to be hell. Tim Federowicz got the start today behind the plate. But now Hyun-jin Ryu is hurt too. Ryu was a late scratch from today’s game because his foot is still hurting him. The left hander reported feeling sore before the game and didn’t want to start unless he was 100%. According to the club he is expected to make his next start. So with Ryu’s foot bothering him, the club had no choice but to call up emergency starter Matt Magill to take the mound today against Jorge De La Rosa and the Rockies in the rubber game of the three game series at Coors Field.

That was unfortunate because Magill was terrible. Magill whiffed eight Braves in his last start in Atlanta, but that was weeks ago, and today he was utterly rocked by the Rockies. Magill pitched into the sixth inning, and allowed six earned runs on five hits. The rookie struggled with his control all day as he walked nine batters. Yes he walked nine. Magill set records for futility in today’s game, with the nine walks and he also served up three home runs. His nine walks are now the most by a Los Angeles Dodger pitcher in nine innings or less. Only two Dodger pitchers have had more walks in nine innings then Magill had today. Only Stan William’s 12 walk game of 1961 ranked as worse than Magill’s crapfest this afternoon. To be fair to Magill, this was a tough assignment for a spot start. Pitching in Coors Field is a nightmare. Magill took the loss as the Dodgers dropped yet another series to Colorado by a final score of 7-2. The Dodgers have not won a series at Coors Field since 2010.

Of course the pathetic makeshift lineup of Bums and bench scrubs could manage only two runs on six hits. The only Dodger runs came in the top of the second. Ethier singled, and Cruz walked. Skip Schumaker’s double brought them both home, but Schumaker was thrown out trying to go to third on a very good throw from Cargo.

The Dodgers also had a home run taken away from Juan Uribe in the first inning when Cargo made a leaping catch to rob our portly third sacker of a long ball. Colorado hit four home runs in the game. Two were by Dexter Fowler, who was the offensive star of the game for Colorado with his two long balls, and three runs driven in.

Jorge De Le Rosa was solid as he pitched seven strong innings, allowing just two runs on six hits, and whiffed five. De La Rosa had never beaten the Dodgers before, and came into the game with an 0-8 career record versus the Boys in Blue. The left hander improves his record to 7-3 on the season.

Colorado scored two in the first when Fowler hit the first of his two home runs, sailing over the center field wall and into the shrubbery. LeMahieu walks. Michael Cuddyer’s sacrifice fly scored Lemahieu to give Colorado a 2-0 lead.

The Dodgers tied it up in the top of the second. Jorge De La Rosa whiffs Fedex, but gives up a single to Andre Ethier, and a walk to Luis Cruz. With first and second, Skip Schumaker doubles down the left field line. The ball gets by Cargo, but he recovers to make a cannon throw to third and gets Schumaker trying to extend his double into a triple. Fedex and Ethier both still score on the base-hit, and the Dodgers tie the game at 2-2.

Colorado scored two more in the fourth to take the lead for good. Notorious Dodger killer Todd Helton led off with a home run , and Colorado added one more when Herrera walked and after being sacrificed to second, scored on LeMahieu’s run scoring single to give Colorado a 4-2 lead.

Cuddyer’s tenth home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth made it a 5-2 game. Finally the Rockies score their last two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Magill walks De La Rosa, and then serves up another home run to Fowler, his second of the game and Colorado took a 7-2 lead.

And that was it. Again. Remember when the Dodgers are trailing after six innings they are 0-19, so those games are as good as over. The Dodgers get knocked down and they do not get back up. The Dodgers had two hits after the sixth inning. Two. We did see the debut of Peter Moylan, as he pitched a scoreless frame in the bottom of the eighth. Adam Ottavino pitched the final two frames for Colorado and that was the game.

The Dodgers are now a season low nine games under .500 at 23-32 and are now 6-18 against the NL West. The Dodgers have won only one series against a divisional opponent, and are 8.5 games back of first place Arizona in the NL West. The Dodgers are even 3.5 back of the fourth place Padres, buried in last place.

Colorado a real live competitive major league team beats the lowly Dodgers-Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

This brand of passionless boring and inept Baseball the Dodgers have been playing all season is unacceptable. This was a team expected and hyped to be a World Series contender and they are not even competitive.

We are hearing rumors all over the internet that the Dodgers will be calling up Yasiel Puig when they get home tomorrow. I sure hope so because I can’t take anymore of this losing. Tomorrow the Dodgers return home for a nine game homestand beginning with a three game series against San Diego. Old friend Eric Stults will battle Chris Capuano tomorrow night at Dodger Stadium at 7:10 PM.

But Wait…..wait….. the Dodgers are reporting something……

Could this be? Is it true? Will we see Puig mania tomorrow at Dodger Stadium. Is Yasiel Puig on his way to Dodger Stadium? Indeed he is. Looks like Puig’s will fly tomorrow. Puig will wear number 66 and make his debut tomorrow. I’ve never felt Puig will be the season savior, but at least it gives us something to look forward too, instead of more losing. Check back in with us over here as we’ll document the debut of Puig mania tomorrow evening.
