Kershaw And Dodgers Battle King Felix In Final Cactus League Game

The Dodgers prepare to play their final Cactus League game this afternoon in Peoria Arizona, against the Seattle Mariners. After the game, the Dodgers will pack up their bags, and make the drive all the way back to Southern California, to begin the Freeway Series Thursday night. This would be a great pitching match-up if it were a regular season game wouldn’t it?

I expected the lineup for today’s game to be very scrubby centric, and of course there it is. It’s business as usual, as most of the regulars have already packed up their bags and left early for Los Angeles.

The Dodgers failed to win their final game at Camelback Ranch last night. They lost 7-6 to the Colorado Rockies. The game saw Aaron Harang possibly make his final start with the Dodgers. You know if it wasn’t for his horrific first inning, Harang would have been alright. But of course in tandem with the Dodger’s usual M.O. of allowing first inning runs to score, Harang served up four in the first frame. He began the game by walking the bases loaded, and then serving up a grand slam home run to Michael Cuddeyer. Overall  Harang worked 5.1 innings with several opposing scouts in the stands, allowing five runs on four hits, walking four, and whiffing five. The Dodgers were able to score four runs over the final three innings, but came up one run short. But hey Tim Federowcz hit a home run, so there’s that. Harang of course could be traded within the next few days, so if that is his final start in Blue, then so long Big Show! Thanks for the mediocre season last year.

The pitching match-up today would be a great one of it wasn’t a meaningless spring game. The Dodgers will have Clayton Kershaw on the mound . Seattle will counter with Felix Hernandez. This will just be a final tune-up for Kershaw, who will only be making 45 pitches in today’s game.

Just take a look at how Scrubbylicious this lineup is below. Yes that is minor leaguer Nick Buss playing in center field today. Marvel in this lineup.  Behold the power of the Scrubbies!
