Puig had been putting on a show already. He had just singled and gone all the way from first to third when Red’s right fielder Jay Bruce bobbled and then dropped the ball. But nearly an inning later in the top of the fifth, Brandon Phillips hit a pop fly to center, that landed in between Jerry Hairston Jr. and Puig. It seemed that Puig and Jhair had some kind of miscommunication about who was going to catch the pop fly. At the last moment Puig tried to awkwardly dive for the ball and came down e on his left side. After a couple of scary moments on the ground, Puig finally stood up and exited the game under his own power. Puig walked off the field while being escorted by Sue Falsone and Don Mattingly. He was charged with an error on the play. Matt Angle replaced Puig in center field. Puig has been having a sensational spring. He is batting .52 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 50 plate appearances. Despite his amazing spring performance, the Dodgers are still planning on placing him in the minors to start the 2013 season.

Clayton Kershaw started the game for the Dodgers and has pitched six frames, and allowed three runs on four hits, walked three and has whiffed eight batters. Luis Cruz has hit two home runs in the game. A three –run shot in the first inning, and a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.  The Dodgers have not made an official announcement about the injury to Puig as of yet. If this had happened in the World Baseball Classic I would have been irate. Seriously. Anyways, we will keep you informed as soon as we hear anything on Puig’s status. Pray that he isn’t seriously injured. (Update) It looks like Puig is ok. Take a deep breath guys!
