Dodgers Play The Cubs After Much Needed Day Off

The Dodgers take the field again after a much needed off day. No time for the boys in blue to lick their wounds.  We are getting closer and closer to opening day here. Which is why it is important to start getting the regulars more playing time to prepare them for opening day, and you know stop playing guys like Brian Barden. Fortunately today’s lineup is chalked full of opening day regulars. So here is the Dodger lineup for this afternoon’s cactus league game against the Cubs at Camleback Ranch. I count six regulars in the lineup, so this is the closest to what it will actually resemble come opening day. Of course minus Hanley Ramirez who is still playing for the Dominican in the World Baseball Classic. Alfredo Amezaga gets the start at shortstop instead. Jerry Hairston is in left field, and lefty Chris Capuano is on the mound for the Dodgers.

No new news on the Dodger injury front. Chad Billingsley threw a simulated game yesterday with no ill effects to his sore groin. Apparently he seems to be fine. I guess those thunder thighs of his are more helpful than not against a groin pull. So Bills shouldn’t miss any time. No change with Birdman’s elbow however. He is still resting after having that platelet injection. If we hear anything new on Greinke’s status, we will pass that along to you. So far there is no change. Here is the Dodger lineup for today’s game.

You should see the Chicago lineup. Yikes, and I do mean yikes. Anyways, yesterday was the last Dodger day-off until March 31. While Capuano will start for the Dodgers, the Cubs will counter with left hander Chris Rusin. The Dodgers will have the following four pitchers follow Capuano. Those are relievers Ronald Belisario, Mark Lowe, Kevin Gregg, and Matt Guerrier. The Dodgers will also have Nick Punto back, who is returning from the WBC after his Team Italy was elminated. They choked away the lead last night to team Puerto Rico with some really bad fielding. You can catch the game today online at 1:05 PM. Go Blue.
