The Dodgers announced today the launch of a new interactive rewards program, which is the first of it’s kind in MLB. The Dodger’s reward program will reward fans for supporting the club through online, social media, and at Dodger Stadium. The program offers Dodger fans the chance to win various prizes through a bunch of digital activities, which include merchandise purchases online, checking into games through MLB.com’s mobile application at the ballpark, and interacting online with the Dodgers at dodgers.com, and through the team’s facebook, and twitter accounts.
The Dodgers reward program will create unique experiences and promotions for fans for supporting the club, or at least that’s what the marketing pitch says. The interactive program will feature it’s first of three sweepstakes, with the first starting today, through Saturday March 15, 2013. Prizes include a pair of tickets to the Dodger’s home opener on April 1st against the Giants, a mention from the Dodger twitter account, and a Sandy Koufax signed Baseball.
When asked about the program, the Dodger’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen had this to say, “We are creating an interactive rewards portal for all things Dodgers,” “Being a sports fan is about passion and competition, and we believe through this platform we are entering the next phase of fan loyalty with the ultimate goal of rewarding our fans for their support.”
Dam straight Lon, Dodger fans are the most passionate fans in the universe. Mark Drosos, President of Lodestone social media had this to say about the online campaign, “Their collective commitment to this program will prove to create an even stronger bond between the team and its fans.”
The program was developed in partnership with MLB advanced media, and Lodestone social media. Apparently you can connect using your Facebook, and Twitter accounts, and you can score points by supporting the team in various ways. You score points by purchasing tickets at the Dodgers.com site, liking Dodger posts on Facebook, and mentioning or Retweeting the @dodgers twitter account on twitter. Mastercard another partner in the program will be announcing new exclusive rewards for it’s customers. Dodger fans will also be able to redeem virtual tokens for discounts on Dodger merchandise, and free subscriptions to MLB.tv premium services.
