Justin Sellers Arrested After Motorcycle Antics and Pursuit
Last winter it was James Loney who was arrested after crashing his Maserati into several cars on a Los Angeles area freeway. This offseason, it was Dodgers infielder Justin Sellers who was arrested. Saturday night Sellers was caught allegedly doing wheelies on his motorcycle in a residential neighborhood of West Sacramento and then fleeing from police thereafter.
Reportedly after a short chase by Sacramento police, Sellers turned himself in. The police department claim they have had several reports of someone driving recklessly on a motorcycle through the area for the past month.

Justin Sellers a.k.a “Sellblock” was booked into county jail for reckless driving and evading police. Ironically his nickname will now finally make sense. No. 12 has appeared in 55 games with the Dodgers over the past two seasons. Sellers injured his back in May after making a highlight reel catch and falling into the stands. He underwent surgery on August 23rd.
The question is now whether Justin Sellers has ruined his career with the Dodgers since he is now facing some pretty serious charges. James Loney was not charged in the bumper car incident last year after all his blood work came out negative for any drugs or alcohol. He was tendered a contract for the 2012 season thereafter. Sellers, on the fringe of the 40-man roster, may have doomed his chances of remaining there. It’s really not just this embarrassing arrest, but his .204 batting average over 167 at-bats doesn’t bode him well either.
The Dodgers could very well release the 26-year old infielder, and if they did it wouldn’t be too much of a loss. Although Sellers is a good defensive player, his season-ending injury, poor hitting, and this motorcycle stunt fiasco almost certainly mean the end of the line for Sellers with the Dodgers.
