Will The Dodgers Sign Ryu? And For How Much?

The Dodgers have begun negotiating terms with Korean free agent lefty pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin. According to Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times. Ryu’s agent Scott Boras held an introductory meeting with the press to introduce Ryu the other day.

The Dodgers will begin negotiating with Ryu officially next week, but some are skeptic as to whether the Dodgers will actually sign the left hander. If the Dodgers are unable to sign Ryu, then he will go back to South Korea. The Dodgers have until December 10 to sign him.

The Dodgers originally won the bidding rights for Ryu with their 25.7 million dollar bid. If the Dodgers are unable to sign the seven time South Korean all-star, their posting fee will be refunded. Boras discussed his client’s options in front of 40 to 50 reporters and media at his Newport Beach office yesterday.

Boras compared Ryu to lefty all-star Mark Buehrle in body type and size. Perhaps Ryu will get a similar contract? Buehrle had signed a four year 58 million dollar contract with the Miami Marlins last winter, and was part of the massive blockbuster trade that sent him to the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week. If Ryu does sign with the Dodgers, he could become the first Korean player to go straight from the Korean leagues to the Majors.

So here is my question to you guys, will Ryu sign with the Dodgers? And if so, for how much? Weigh in below in the poll with your vote. Election night never ends over here at Lasorda’s Lair!
