Dodgers Will Visit Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards, and Rogers Centre in 2012

The Dodgers announced the preliminary regular season schedule for 2013 on Wednesday. Let’s take a look at how the potential World Championship year is scripted.

The Dodgers will open the 2013 season at home this year. They will host the rival San Francisco Giants for a three-game series, and Opening Day will be on Monday, April 1st at Dodger Stadium. The season will conclude at home as well with a final game against the Colorado Rockies on September 29th. If you notice, the season will now end in September to allow plenty of time for the additional Wild Card playoff round of the newly expanded postseason schedule which begins this season.

With the realigned divisions and league move by the Houston Astros, Interleague Play will now be dispersed throughout the entire 2013 season for the very first time. The American League teams who will be visiting Dodger stadium will be the Red Sox (can’t wait for the James Loney homecoming), the cross-town rival Angels, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the New York Yankees. The Yankees will come to Dodger Stadium for a brief two-game series on July 30th and 31st. This will be the third visit to Chavez Ravine by the Yankees. They played at Dodger Stadium in 2004 and 2010 previously. This will also be the first time that Tampa Bay will have ever played at Dodger Stadium.

For the Dodgers, they will have a few exciting road destinations for Interleague Play next season. They will travel to Camden Yards from April 19-21st to play the current first-place Baltimore Orioles. The Dodgers will play at Angel Stadium May 29th-30th which is an abbreviated two-game series. Then on June 18th and June 19th, the Boys in Blue will take on the pinstripes of the Yankees at Yankee Stadium for a much anticipated yet disappointingly short mid-week series. This will be the first time that Dodgers will play at Yankee Stadium for a regularly scheduled game. The last time the Dodgers played the Yankees in New York was in their Game 6 World Championship victory on October 28, 1981. Finally the Dodgers will be playing some baseball in Canada this season as they head up to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays for two games at Rogers Centre from July 22-24th.

If you look at the schedule, it is nice to see that the final month of baseball for the Dodgers will be played mostly against their division other than a three-game series in Cincinnati. This relieves some of the worry that we would have to face Interleague Play down the stretch or gasp on Opening Day for the Dodgers.

After the conclusion of the 2012 season, the Dodgers plan to release the official schedule with game times and promotional dates. Stan Kasten had previously mentioned that there will be nine new bobbleheads for the 2013 season.
