The wife of Dodger catcher Matt Treanor, Misty May-Treanor, made the United States proud on Wednesday by becoming a three-time Olympic champion. Misty and her long time beach volleyball partner Kerri Walsh Jennings defeated fellow Americans April Ross and Jennifer Kessey in the gold medal match with scores of 21-16 and 21-16. The dynamic duo have been almost unbeatable in Olympic competition over the course of their three-peat going 21-0. They have only lost one single set in their three golden Olympic games in 2004, 2008, and 2012.

May-Treanor and Walsh have been partners for 11 years, and they have become icons of the sport. After the 2004 Olympic

games, Misty married Matt Treanor in November of that year. Matt wasn’t able to attend the London games in person since the baseball season is currently in progress, but he has watched Misty’s matches online. Many of the other Dodgers have been cheering on Misty including Matt Kemp who has tweeted out his enthusiasm for the golden pair a few times during their London journey.

Misty would acknowledge her husband on camera after each match victory and shout “Go Dodgers!” in support for Matt and his team. Matt Treanor became a bit emotional when being interviewed after Misty won her third consecutive gold medal. He was slated in the starting lineup Wednesday night by Don Mattingly.

This was Misty’s final game since she has announced that she will retire in order to start a family with Matt in the near future.
