Tonight the Dodgers will go for their third win in a row against the Phillies at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia. In game three the dodgers will give the ball to lefty Chris Capuano, who is coming off his worst start of the season last week in Colorado. That start he gave up seven runs and four walks, and forgot to cover first base on a ground ball. Cappy will go for his eighth win tonight. He has been excellent this year posting a 7-2 record, and a 2.50 ERA. Most impressive is his 6.5 hit per nine rate, and his 8.0 whiff per nine rate. Against the Phillies he is 0-2 with a 2.87 ERA. Cappy has always pitched very well against the Phills. Philadelphia is only hitting .243 (25 for 101), off Cappy. Former Dodger Juan Pierre is 9 for 26 (.346) though. Hector Luna is 5 for 15 (.333) with a home run. The only other home run came from Jimmy Rollins.

The Phillies will counter with right hander Kyle Kendrick. The 27 year old right hander from Houston has pitched well this year, but been victimized by poor run support. Kendrick is 2-4 with a 4.04 ERA, but has not allowed more than two runs in any of his starts this year. He allows a lot of base runners though, and then has to wiggle out of his own jam. He has a 10.7 hits per nine rate, and only 28 whiffs in 47 innings pitched. The Dodgers have always given him a bad time. Against the Boys in Blue, Kendrick is 4-3 with an 8.01 ERA. The Dodgers have always hit Kendrick very well, just take a look this Ish.

The Dodgers have hit .438 (21 for 48) off of Kendrick. Yes you read that right. Andre Ethier is 5 for 17 (.385) with two home runs and seven RBIs. James Loney is hitting .571 off of Kendrick! Loney has hit two home runs and driven in seven runs against Kendrick. Yes Loney! Even more amazing is Adam Kennedy is 5 for 12 (.417), with five runs driven in. All total the Dodgers have hit ten extra base-hits and driven in 19 runs against Kyle Kendrick.

Middle reliever Javy Guerra had successful knee surgery to repair his meniscus yesterday. The team had been strangely quiet about his injury, and it was unclear at first how he hurt his knee. Apparently it was from the line drive that hit him in the face. He is expected to be back in 4-6 weeks. Philadelphia has also activated former Dodger Jim Thome from the DL, and optioned Peter Orr.

Last night the Giants lost to San Diego, thanks to a walk-off home run from Logan Forsythe. The Dodgers increased their lead back to four games in the NL West.

These last two wins have been most enjoyable. Obviously this Phillies team has been disarmed due to the injuries to Big Nose and Chase Utley. It doesn’t make these victories any less sweeter. For two years we had to watch the same thing, the Phillies knocking us out of the NLCS. Now it’s payback time. Game time is at 405PM on Prime Ticket. Check back with us for our nightly postgame recap. let’s get another win for Tommy! Sorry Philadelphia, but revenge is a dish best served cold. Go Blue.
