Going in to Tuesday, the Dodgers sit atop the NL West with a big five game early season lead. They are now nine games above .500, while all the remaining teams in the division are under the .500 mark. The Dodger left-handed pitchers have yet to lose a game yet this season. They have been utterly dominating. Chris Capuano is 4-0, Ted Lilly is 4-0, and Clayton Kershaw is 2-0. You can argue that Kersh has actually been the weakest out of the lefty crew so far which is surprising. Don’t get me wrong, Kersh is still Kersh. Yet he hasn’t been pitching at full throttle yet in my opinion, and perhaps that Opening Day bout with the flu set him back a little.

Tonight in game two against the Giants, Kershaw will go to the mound to do what he does best-defeat our rivals. Last night we got a glimpse of how bad the San Francisco defense is. Although Dee Gordon‘s two-headed error was excruciating to watch as well. Luckily James Loney‘s supreme glove work saved a couple of runs, and he truly is the perfect counterpart to Dee’s bumbling error-filled defense.

homeruns-the first time he dished up three dingers in a game during his career. Kershaw has a lifetime record of 6-1 against the Giants with a 1.25 ERA and 87 Ks. None of the current Giants have taken Kersh deep. Kershaw also has a streak of 12 straight unbeaten decisions at home. The last time he lost a game at Dodger Stadium was April 16, 2011 against the Cardinals. Last season against the Giants he went 5-0 with a 1.07 ERA.

Ryan Vogelsong will have his work cut out for him as he goes up against Kersh. Ryan is 2-2 with a 4.68 ERA against the Dodgers in his career. Matt Kemp has hit one homerun against him, and just about all the Dodgers who have faced him are hitting well over .300 against him. The Bison has beaten up the Giants, and last season he had a .469 batting average against them with 4 homeruns, 12 runs, and 9 RBI in the 9 games in which the Giants played the Dodgers at Chavez Ravine.
