Dodgers Rookie League Raptors Start Playoffs Friday vs. In-State Rival the Angels Owlz

The Dodgers Rookie league squad, Ogden Raptors are very familiar with their rivals 75 miles to the South. The Orem Owlz who just so happen to be the Rookie league affiliate of the Orange County California Angels of Los Angeles in Anaheim.

Tomorrow, the Raptors begin a 3 game Pioneer League Southern Division Playoffs, in Orem who won the 2nd half, despite losing their 1st round pick and top slugger, C.J. Cron, a local product from the University of Utah, with a knee injury.

The Raptors won the 1st half division title tying with Orem at 22-16, but they owned the tie-breaker.

The Raptors were 7 and 9 against the Owlz this season. The Raptors took 5 of the first 7 games before Orem ripped off 7 straight, with the Raptors winning the final 2 contests.

The Owlz are led by Pioneer League MVP Taylor Lindsey, who hit .359 with a .977 OPS and 166 total bases in just 62 games.

The Raptors have to be thrilled with 2011 12th round pick O’Koyea Dickson. He’s hit over .330, with 12 HR, 35 RBI, 109 Total Bases and a fat .994 OPS in only 47 games. Joc Pederson who lead the league with 64 RBI, before his promotion to Great Lakes, James Baldwin and Scott Schebler have also had solid all around seasons in the hitter friendly Pioneer League.
