Dodgers 2 – Giants 0

Don Mattingly is undefeated as a manager. Big Jon Broxton looks like Big Jon circa 2007-2009, and is on pace for 162 saves. Matt Kemp is wreaking havoc on the basepaths, just like the great Davey Lopes did. IDJ took the Silver Sombrero (3 KO’s) in his MLB debut, but made a nice defensive play and walked once after being down 0-2 in the count and would have scored if Kemps RBI double would have stayed in the yard. BTW I hate the rubber warning tack surfaces. Giants rookie Brandon Belt belted his first career HR a 3 run shot, and sadly a security guard threw it into the croud, last word was Dodgers were trying to retrieve the ball.

I was curious why they didn’t bring in Jansen to pitch the 7th, but they got away with it. Instead, Blake Hawksworth worked out of a bases loaded jam by getting Buster Posey, AKA Bieber Sr, to KO on a 3-2, 95 MPH fastball, Posey in the process threw his bat into the stands. Guerrier looked solid in the 8th and the Giants once again shot themselves in the foot with errors. And the Dodgers squeaked out a 4-3 win. I like the vibe I’m seeing between the players and the coaches in the dugout, they are making heady plays like Kemp going from 1st to 3rd on a ground out, he also made a nice diving catch, completely opposite from last year. Thankfully some idiot fan didn’t send a Giant’s fan to the hospital afterward in the parking lot like yesterday.

Check out ESPN’s Jon Weisman’s Dodger Thought’s, in my opinion he’s the gold standard of Dodger bloggers.

Another favorite of mine, and surely anyone who saw the Simpson’s Softball episode with Mattingly, Strawberry, Sax, and Scioscia, is Mike Petriello at Mike Scioscia’s tragic illness (Great Name)

They both provide excellent recaps.

Same 2 teams tomorrow afternoon on Fox 1 PM PT, Cain vs Lilly, let’s go for 3 in a row!

Go Blue.
