Dodgers Bats Down White Sox

Sorry folks some technical difficulties prevent me from posting my usual in-depth recap of today’s action from Camelback Ranch. No worries though, for complete anyalysis of the Dodgers victory over the White Sox I recommend you visit our friends over at True Blue LA. All you need to know is Matt Kemp went deep again and looks primed for a big bounce back season.

Scott Merkin at MLB.com also has the full details of what turned out to be a Dodger offensive explosion.

Two Lasorda’s Lair favorites, Ivan De Jesus Jr and Rubby De La Rosa are also featured in articles by Ken Gurnick at MLB.com. It’s fun to see the youngsters we’ve been raving about for the past month make the headlines.

With just 10 more days of camp left, stay tuned as both Mike and I will make our bold predictions of who will make up the final 25 man roster, as well as a top 10 prospect rundown.

Notes:

  • Bud Selig was at CBR today but as Dylan Hernandez at the L.A. Times writes  he refused to answer any questions about the McCourt divorce and it’s impact on Dodger ownership. The Commish did make an appearance in the booth during the White Sox telecast today and provided viewers with this interesting piece of information, “Baseball has never been more popular and has more parity than any other sport, by far.” Huh? Really? Has the commish looked at the payroll disparity between the Yankees and Red Sox vs. say the Royals and Pirates?

Fantastic follow-up to a piece I wrote last Tuesday while at Dodger camp:

“The star of the day, however, was #89 for the Dodgers (who I have searched and searched for and still cannot find out who he is) who managed to score after the game.  Here’s a guy, in uniform, looking through the backstop and says to a girl, “Hey, you’re cute!” and then he proceeded to roll out his best minor league line which should be used in all baseball movies hereafter, “you want my phone number?”  He just made me proud.  Seizing the moment, he turned a loss into a victory, and in true Hollywood fashion, later that evening, they rode off into the sunset, or something like that!”

#89 turned out to be Jaime Pedroza a 9th round pick in 2007 who played at AA Chattanooga last year. I finally found a profile on him at Minor Legue Baseball.com. He hit a 2 run homer in the 8th inning today, proving to me that he’s got game on the field, as well as off of it. He is one of my new favorite prospects for so many different reasons.

The Dodgers have 2 games tomorrow. An afternoon game at CBR vs the A’s which will air on Prime Ticket at 1:00 PT,  and a road game vs the D’Backs which will be on Fox Sports AZ (ch 686) at 6:40 pm PT, for those of us with the Directv Sports Pack.
