Furcal activated; Sherrill to DL

While Rafael Furcal has been activated from the disabled list, RP George Sherrill has succumbed to injury. Furcal, who has not played since April 27, is in the lineup tonight against the Chicago Cubs. Sherrill, who has been struggling this season, was placed on the 15-day DL with what is believed to be a mild-back strain.

Sherrill has struggled with his mechanics this season, and as a result has a 7.36 ERA through 22 appearances . Sherrill has reported that he’s had discomfort between his shoulder blades, which certainly not good news. For the full report, you can click here.

Andre Either, who was placed on the DL just recently, could be expected to rejoin the team at the end of the month. Either was batting a scorching .392/.457/.744 and is an early leader for the NL MVP. Either has 11 home runs along with 38 RBIs. The Dodgers would certainly love to have Either back in the lineup, but even without Either, the Dodgers continue to lead the NL in BA. (.277).
